The group were formed on a UK TV Show
called 'Popstars The Rivals' back in 2002. The public voted to form a
girl and boy band. The members are Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh,
Cheryl Tweedy (now Cheryl Cole), Nicola Roberts and Nadine Coyle.
They competed for the coveted
Christmas number one. Girls Aloud stormed to number one, easily beating
the boys with their first single ‘Sound Of The Underground’.
Then: Now:
From then the pop five some have had
phenomenal success mostly in Britain, but have toured Australia
briefly. The group have scored the award of most successful Girl Group
ever in the UK with achieving 19 top ten hits in a row (could be more
in the future). They’ve also had 4 tours, which have sold very well.
Their most famous songs include Biology, Love Machine, Call The Shots
and Sexy No, No, No.
Hopefully this great group will continue for many years to come.
